Less than 2 weeks ago we took a little getaway to Southern Vermont. Even though I was born in Vermont and have spent half my life there I usually just "run" ( I use the term very, very loosely here) back and forth to Burlington to catch up with my parents. Bob has never spent much time in Vermont, being a Native Bay Stater ( is that what you call people born and raised in Massachusetts??) so we are having fun exploring parts of the state that he has never seen. It gives him a chance to find covered bridges, diners and train stations to photograph. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and Mother Nature was kind enough to keep a lot of golden leaves on the maples. The day in Bennington was a day to remember weatherwise, scenerywise and of course companywise. Just a great day. Most are Bob's photos and I am sure you can tell the difference between his stunning photos and my "click while passing" shots. Enjoy some autumn in Vermont...it is the BEST!
$750K, seems a steal to me...and I love a Greek Revival style home...c.1830...bay window on left side...*sigh*...
All houses were in Old Bennington, a neighborhood surrounding the monument. All have very large lots that overlook Bennington or surrounding farmland.
A day to remember...thank you Bob :)
Later,
Janet

ReplyDeleteWow, Bob's been taking photog. classes methinks!!! Fabulous shots, I love that second one so much, and yes, I wouldn't mind moving back to New England one bit!!
ReplyDeleteGreat houses Janet - know you wanted to peep inside! I'd be right there with you.
Now for the wonderful surprise - your lovely card! Thanks so very much for the b-day greetings to both Jasmin and me - you were so sweet to acknowledge our special days (J - 25th, me - 26th).
Enjoy this coming weekend - bet the trees are just about done up there, ours are just changing now the nights have cooled off.
Hugs from us all, Mary
Oh my goodness! I love all these houses! Amazing pictures! Sigh. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos, the old homes and those trees are all so beautiful! I will have to add Bennington to my list of towns to visit.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog, we feel lucky to share our yard with bluebirds!
Kat :)
Love Bennington also, we are up further north though. Although we are often in the southern part of the state for weddings. There are so many great towns around VT, a beautiful view at every turn! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of beautiful places and things!
ReplyDeleteNobody has fall scenery like you New Englanders....I laughed about what you call your husband being from Mass...if you ever get mad at him let me know and I'll tell you what I have heard they call people from Massachusetts....Okay you asked me about a diner in Jersey that has great strawberry shortcake....I lived in central Jersey and did not go to Cherry Hill area....there are hundreds of diners in our glorious "all we want to do is eat at 3:00a.m" state. One of our favorites especially for rice pudding was the Ocean Bay diner at the circle in Point Pleasant....if I ever come across good shortcake in my travels I will let you know!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you were wondering now you know why the new Governor is so "portly"....LOL.
OMGosh, those pictures are just beautiful! I have always wanted to visit Vermont, especially in the fall. I feel strangely drawn there, like I might go and not come back again! It's so nice to see the pictures you have drawn. Someday you'll have to tell me what it's like to live there.
ReplyDeleteBest,
~Angela :-)
Thanks for the tour of Vermont. Haven't been there in years but would love to visit.
ReplyDeleteYour pics are Stunning - Wow - I am speechless! Linda
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet for the tour & the absolutely gorgeous photos! :) chris
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Janet~
ReplyDeleteI clicked over to your blog from Tutti Chic and want to cry seeing the lovely photos of Vermont in the fall. I'm 59 and have only seen the leaves change once in my life ~ and that was 23 years ago. Being a lifelong desert rat hasn't allowed me to see leaves change. This is my first time visiting you and I had to comment on your photos. I love those houses! We have nothing like that here because out West the history isn't as deep. Your blog is lovely and I enjoyed my visit. ~ Amy in Nevada
Breathtaking is all I can say...these are postcard worthy for sure!!
ReplyDeleteWe love Bennington. It is so quaint. Loved seeing the pictures. Thanks for posting
