FRENCH DOORS
The doors and doorways of Villefranche were so lovely with their faded, peeling paint. Why is it that we paint our doors so often and insist that they be pristine?? Just a rhetorical question for you to ponder. These are the doors and doorways that we found so fascinating as well as a couple of just plain beautiful pictures. I just love the ochre and terra cotta colors of the stucco, don't you?

ReplyDeleteYou're right about the doors...here in the USA everything has to look new. In CA we have to fight not to have our older, interesting buildings torn down. I love them even if they aren't up to earthquake codes...sometimes they can be reinforced instead of torn down but it's more expensive.
ReplyDeleteI'm such a lover of the old painted doors.....especially when faded, peeling, chipped etc. Doors, windows, shutters......so much history behind them all.
ReplyDeleteThese are just lovely, and again, I am waiting patiently for another trip to the South of France....or perhaps back to Italy....both countries are my favorites!!

You are so right about the doors. That is one of my favorite things to pain, old doors. I love the stucco, terra cotta and old finishes.
