PLANTAIN BREAD????

Long story short. Bob has been away since Sunday and will be home late tonight tired, hungry and a bit grouchy I am sure. 'Thought I would make his favorite banana bread for a cheer- him- up- snack. After all, I never want to take him for granted, ya know.

They looked like bananas at the store... and they just said "reduced produce" , but when I opened the package no whiff of banana, and then it dawned on me ....whoops! I had one frozen banana ( which is how I usually store them for banana bread) so I guess it will be "Hint o' Banana Bread". Better than nothing I am thinking and after all it's the thought that counts, right?

Later,
Janet

  2. P.S. I would love to come over for coffee to commiserate (sp?) Janet but I'll be at the Cape for a few days. Can I take a rain check? Thanks so much for the offer! :) chris

  3. I store my ripe bananas in the freezer too. It seems there is always one left over that turn too ripe to eat. So when I have three frozen, I thaw them and make bread. Your "Hint" o banana bread turned out great, I am sure!

  5. Plantain bread, chips, fried, creamed, baked, broiled. When I was in Belize I never got so tired of something in my life. They are grown in everyone's yard and are so cheap they are everywhere. I am ashamed of myself for saying that. I love those people there. They have so few choices. How wise of you to always use what you have.

  6. You can make "plantains foster" and serve it with the whiff of banana bread and a scoop of ice cream for something really special. I had plantains that way in a Latin American restaurant once..they were really delicious.
