Oceanfront Living

Last Monday we went exploring in a part of Westerly Rhode Island known as Watch Hill.  What an eye opener...I wandered around in the staggering heat oohing and aahing.  We went to see a lighthouse and the only way to get to it was to walk thru a private enclave of homes.  This is allowed...don't worry.  We could meander the grounds of the lighthouse, but not go thru the gates as it is a Coast Guard facility. Check out these homes all facing the water....

I believe a woman with a sense of humor lives here!

Same house, different view

This one seemed very small ( and old) by comparison

In light of our recent unexpected expense, we kept trying to imagine how much these wooden shingle roofs with some many peaks, valleys, eyebrow windows and dormers would cost...a veritable roofers' dream!

Modest by comparison

You know I wanted to wander by there at night with my clippers ;)

Now for a couple of boats...what would a beach town be without boats, right?

How cool is that?

And of course...the lighthouse ( Watch Hill Light).

I want to thank everyone who stops by to read my blog.  I put that live feed widget thingie on and I am amazed that so many people look at my blog and that you come from all over the world.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

  1. wowsers! what places. what boats. with lighting included! i cannot imagine living in one of those places but looking at them is fun. notice we didn't even care about the water view!!! hahaha. jkj

  2. Well of course we come!

And Holy Moly, how would it be to live.......

    I love my home:)

  3. Hi Janet,
I just wanted to let you know that you are the winner of my giveaway. Just e-mail me your address and I'll get everything sent off to you.
Well done - hope you like it all!

  4. What great eye candy! I especially love that very first house with the great white trim and the covered 2nd story porch on the end. I could just feel the ocean breeze as I read through. Sigh!
    ~Angela :-)

  5. Oooooo I loved the houses. You and I share the same love of looking at homes. My sister and I used to walk evenings (we called the street-Pollyanna Avenue) and peeked inside. My husband also enjoys looking at homes. Cape May I was stopped by police- I had backed up into a driveway and it had some sort of monitor. I was just looking. I love your blog. little granddaughter is from China. She is our China Doll.

  6. gorgeous eye candy! oh to have that kind of money! we love to walk around harbors to check out the boats. my hubby loves to sail and has always wanted an old boat to restore.

    thanks for sharing!!!!!

  7. If I could find a witch weather vane, I might really stick it on the top of my ranch house. :)

Thanks for the comment, we're linked up!

  8. Janet they are all gorgeous, anything on/very near water would suit me.....even a tiny beach cottage to fix up.

  9. I just love the person that has the witch for a weathervane. Just that one thing (or it can be a mailbox, front door, etc.) shows the personality of the owner loud and clear!

  10. Check the online westerly tax assessors web site.. you'll find several of those houses on lighthouse road are owned by the same person..

  11. That long elegant wooden boat is owned by Royce.. the same fellow that rebuilt and owns the Ocean House.. By the way, you pictured Taylor Swifts House but never made the comments it was hers.. I'll let someone else point to which one. Drive through Watch Hill in the winter time and it is deserted. Everyone is back living in their Park ave 8,000,000 apartments.

Thanks for stopping by. Please leave me a comment if you have enjoyed my blog. I look forward to "chatting" with you.
