I'm Lovin' it ( I think)

For years I have seen similar chandeliers in my favorite magazines. Sometimes they were left unadorned and sometimes they had "stuff" in them, you know, like dried artichokes or faux fruit. Now they have this chandy available at Pottery Barn for a somewhat reasonable $299. and I am not sure if I like it anymore. Ever happen to you?? Guess we covet what we can't have or find and when it becomes available it has lost it's clout. I am sure there is a lesson here somewhere.

Petite Chaise

Navy blue velvet with needlepoint seat and back with petitpoint inserts of flowers (click to enlarge and see the detail). Excellent condition, very sturdy and it was a steal so I had to have it. It will be moved into a back corner where it fits better once the chair that used to be here gets recovered.

ELECTION DAY PROJECT

Empty mirror frame..the mirror broke many years ago, so hopefully any residue of bad luck has dissipated. I painted the frame black, then dry brushed the detail with some bronze paint so it has a bit of depth. Then just hung 3 blue plates in the empty frame. I think I need bigger plates, but these are the size I have. Free project. Now I am working on knitting a yellow/goldish aka Cornsilk pillow cover for a 12x18 free pillow to replace the needlepoint. The chair in the corner (Chloe's favorite sleeping spot) has been "covered" with an old Mattelasse bedspread.

The guest room is getting cozier and cheaper by the minute. What projects are you working on?

PRIMED

Eight, count 'em 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 hours and about 3/4 gallon of primer. Yes, I would love to beef up the mantel and have a surround built, but the fireplace is not flat, but is stepped and therefore I need to have something custom designed and built. Not happening until the housing market comes back. But I digress somewhat. Ignore the white inside the firebox on the right. Don't know what I was thinking, must have been an ADD moment. I will repaint those with a lovely soot color.

Nooks and crannies. Great in English Muffins. Horrible in brick. There must be about an acre of surface area in this fireplace.

Tired and bored!

STUBBORN, PERFECTIONIST, CONTROL FREAK...but still fun

Okay, I am a stubborn, pig headed control freak, perfectionist. I admit it. I had better things planned for today. I wanted to take some more pictures somewhere, but now I am too stubborn to give up on this. Some of you were kind enough to stop by my earlier post, but I was just not happy with it. What if Matthew Mead or Martha had stopped by ( this has happened to other bloggers). I had written text to go with these pictures, but for now I am going to ask you to just look at the pretty gourds, squash as bookends and handmade wreath on the door. Yes, I need to paint the magnetic hook on the door. Those things hanging from the lights over the fireplace are acorn clusters. Faux, but very cute for a girl with an acorn fetish. Oh, and I can't forget the beautiful organic pinecone that my friend Clarice sent to me.

So, with a flourish, I am going to delete the earlier post. Wave the magic wand, please....
