PENSIVE SKY

Trying to learn this new way to load pictures that Blogger has promised would be easier.  Easier to load and size maybe, but not sure if I should have written text first.  Anyway, Bob took these pix to show the new color and I love, love, the color ( thank you, jano, for the assistance), it is different in every light and my kitchen has many different gradations of light and shadow.  None of these pictures show the color exactly, but you can get the idea. I really wanted some artsy shots of specific areas, but apparently I don't communicate all that well. That and I am not at good at visual displays as I would like to be, lol!

This is the barren eating area that we have never used to eat in.  The microwave has to live here for many reasons, no counter space being one and also the there is not enough room over the stove.  That curtain ( tablecloth masquerading as a curtain) is on a double window.  I would like to have a built in shelving unit built under the window and I could put plants etc there.  It would probably end up being a place for the cats to watch the outdoors.  There is no electrical outlet on that wall and no easy way to get power to that wall without making a mess of the new paint.  It has been suggested that I make this area into a sitting area with a couple of comfy chairs, but as nice as it sounds I still need a place for the microwave and I also think I would feel psychologically cold there in the winter so near the back door( to the left of that window). Of course you can't see the whole kitchen layout in these pictures, so just use your imagination and give me some ideas, OK?

Later,
Janet

  2. Do you have room for an island/bar in that area? A place where someone could sit and look through cookbooks or converse with the cook, while sipping a cup of tea or a glass of wine? You could incorporate the microwave into the base of the island/bar...

LOVE the color of your walls with the copper and the light cabinets. It looks great...

  3. Hi Janet :)

I think a seating area would be cute too. It's not always cold ;)

  6. Your kitchen looks like a wonderful space to spend time. I can't tell just how the two sides fit but would it be possible to warm up (visually) the other end by painting the three walls (if there are) a darker shade of the same blue? I was thinking a farmhouse style table with a rug underneath would also be nice just as project space and that there could still be room for your microwave. Some more of those lovely blue/white plates on the wall would help tie both sides together.

Warm wishes (in your kitchen) or whereever you are,

    Elizabeth

  7. The best thing we did when we remodeled our very small kitchen was to put a space saver microwave over the stove. It looks like you have room. Of course, it replaces the hood. Even if you had to loose that very small cabinet over the hood it would be worth it! That would free the present corner to be what ever you want it to be. If you put chairs in that corner, warm the area with a rug.

  8. FYI: have you tried Live Writer? It's a free download which makes blogging sooooo much easier. The pics come in faster and you can size them and you can choose many fonts/sizes, etc. GOod luck! Peggy from PA

  9. What a fantastic kitchen. It looks super functional without looking industrial or sterile. The counter tops are amazing and I love the cabinet paint color. Great job!
