DREADED TASK

Not a fun time. It is my job , since I don't seem to have any real estate activity going on, to paint all the trim in the upstairs hallway. It is not a big space, but there are five doors and obviously the baseboard. Mr. Bob seems to think that this is just a couple hour job, but I beg to differ. Today I taped of all the door trim on each side of the door, taped all the baseboards and the new hardwood floor in the hall, did some caulking and started lightly sanding the varnish. Then, fortunately I had to go to work. Tomorrow more sanding, wiping down and maybe start the primer, but....drum roll please...I have to go show property at noon. Wish me luck, I could use some real estate action to help stimulate the economy.

Here is a joke my boss sent me.

Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, '"surely I can't look that old." Well.. You'll love this one.

My name is Alice Smith and I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his DDS diploma, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 40-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate. After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park High School. "Yes. Yes, I did. I'm a mustang," he gleamed with pride. "When did you graduate?" I asked. He answered , "in 1965. Why do you ask?" "You were in my class!", I exclaimed. He looked at me closely.

Then, that ugly, old, bald, wrinkled, fat ass, gray-haired, decrepit son-of-a-b**** asked, "What did you Teach?"

Enjoy the laugh,
Janet

  5. Hi Janet.
I loved the joke. I guess when we get to a certain age we are all guilty of thinking we look younger than the other guy. I'm going to send it to all my "old"
    girlfriends.
    Thanks for the laugh.

Good luck with the painting...you sound as excited about that as I do about cleaning out the garage ;)

  8. Hi Janet!!!!!!!! That joke is toooooo funny! And, why yes, I do the same thing. Infact the other day there was something on TV where the guy said he was 48 (year older than moi) and I thought, "OMG! He looks wayyyyy older than I!!!" Great story! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

BTW, I agree with you that Carmel is a wonderful town to "House Peep." We do the same thing and love to drive around looking at all of the cottage homes - better at night when the lights are on and you can get a glimpse inside! Ha!

  9. OH ROFL! That was so funny! I have to admit I do that quite a bit.

I don't know how painting baseboards could be done in a couple of hours!! All that prep takes hours on it own!

  10. Good luck with your showing. I remember seeing an e mail about that age thing. That is so true isn't it. We always think others have aged more than us.

  19. Funny joke. And I know about the painting--I did most of mine last year---I think there may be one room that I haven't done---I will wait till spring or something!! It makes a huge difference to the look of the room. Unfortunately I was also redoing the caulking---my house is old and the base boards needed caulking---but I may have used the wrong kind---groan---I am hoping it will stand up!!! I ain't doin it for a long time (I HOPE) I still have doors to redo---but they will wait toooooo!
