PARTIAL BATH REDO

My head is spinning from reviewing Medicare statements and finding that not all retirees live within their incomes. Enough said! Since I have not had much that is pleasant to post about I thought I would show the pix of my partially finished bath. It is not a big bath by any means, but those of you who remember my post about the spinach vomit sink will be glad to see some progress. We still need to get mirror, medicine cabinet ( which I am not sure I want), towel bars up etc. Also I need to find the perfect toile shower curtain that resides deep in my head where I can see it perfectly. Do any of you have that problem? I can picture it so perfectly and it may not even exist, lol. So, in the meantime I bought a funky stripe, almost madras type fabric, in the clay color to speed the completion along. It was only $25. and if you run to your local Homegoods you can probably see it in person! The color didn't come out very well, but the color is a clay/terra cotta color. Very nice with the crisp white. I am happy with my choices and I am sure you will agree that a brown and cream toile is just what I need, you do agree, right? As always, click for more detail.

Still need to seal the granite. See the soap dish and toothbrush holder? I bought those in Poulsbo, WA with Clarice.

I love the floor, the look of tumbled marble, but it is ceramic tile.

Really, it is NOT orange!

A little glimpse of the "not toile" shower curtain! Please ignore the shiny wallpaper in the hall!

  1. Looking good, Janet! Have you checked Country Curtains for that toile? Also, is that floor vinyl? I noticed you wrote "look of" tumbled marble. It looks awesome!

  3. ooohh, aaaaahhhh! yes, there is life after renovation! it is coming along so nicely. LOVE the beadboard, marble and granite, contrast of the "not-orange paint" with the white of everything else. i vote for the toile: whenever it appears buy it. in the meantime, the stripe works well! so clean and classic, you might not even remember the spinachsink. oh! oh! you could put a "before" photo in a nice frame on the wall. whaddya think? lol! jkj

  4. Janet, it is looking fantastic.

Oh yes, I definitely have visions of the toile. And, I do have the same problem. I imagine things that don't even exist.

  5. Janet, this looks fabulous! I love this look for a bathroom with the beadboard. It looks so fresh and clean. I even like your not-toile shower curtain! (Like you, I have lots of things I'm always searching for that I can see in my head but never find in a store.) -Julia

  6. Janet,

What color is that in the bathroom? How pretty! I need to paint mine soon and I'm thinking about Eddie Bauer's gourd colored paint.

  7. It's really looking fab Janet - I love the beadboard and granite top, and the ceramic tile. Hope you find your toile in the colorway you want - there are so many available. You may have to order fabric and make the shower curtain. I wanted a gold/brown/cream for a European square sham and found it at JoAnn Fabrics - had to be special ordered but they have samples hanging up.

  8. Oh my goodness. Were you trying to make me green with envy?? Egads but I love the counter and floor. And the beadboard is exactly what I would like someday. I am getting a Corian counter and had to BEG for that! Whoa but that granite is gorgeous.
This is so beautiful Janet. Truly.
I hope you find he toile curtain you long for. I know that feeling of *seeing* it in your head...

    Love,
