Don't you just love bookends, they have so much character. I have had these precious boy and girl musicians ( she has a lute of some sort which you can't see) since I was a child. They have had some repairs over the years...one was unfortunately decapitated and the other had some orthopedic issues, but they seem happy to be aging as well as they are. That's all any of us can ask for right?
I got these acorn bookends for Christmas feeding my desire for all things acorn related, except raking of course.
The wise owls hold up some of my cookbooks. I bought these when I was in college and was going through an "Owl Phase".
My Aunt Dorothy made these in a ceramics class at least 30 years ago.
I have one set that looks like old books, but unfortunately they need some touch up, so I will save them for another time.
Later,
Janet

What a great collection of bookends. These are things that have been around for so many years and are still being used. I have a pair of children reading books, a boy and girl both holding their head with their hand. I will have to post them sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteOh Janet...your bookends are so lovely, and special!
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet for stopping in and leaving your sweet comments. You stopped in just as I was editing my post....so come on back for a wonderful tour of Paris!

ReplyDeletethese are super! Funny, I just did a post about books, too, it's karma!
ends. They always draw me in. Yours are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI heart those acorns...I have an "acorn attraction" too! When visiting my family in VA in the fall, I found the most beautiful acorns...with the tops on...on Skyline Drive and they were the greatest treasures I found that entire trip.
ReplyDeleteCute stuff...Cassie
what sweet scenes you show! l love how the green of the book goes with the acorn. (my fave of the series) makes me want to "frame" my books with a set. jkj
ReplyDeleteHi Janet Thanks for stopping by. I haven't been visiting many blogs lately. Those bookends are so interesting. The acorns are my favorite too. I'll keep my eyes open for any Vermont souvenir plates. Hope youhave a great weekend. Rhondi xo
ReplyDeleteI love these Janet! Bookend are great fun!
ReplyDeleteI had an owl phase too! See how much we have in common? Our first bathrooms were all owls...and some spilled into the bedroom too.
I have a set of dog bookends I love and yes, the older they are the better! And yours have so much meaning too.
Have a sweet weekend Dear friend.
Love,
Sue
Love the little acorns! I did a posting not long ago on bookends...they are fun to have and I am always on the look-out for them when I go thrifting.

Who'd a thought! A post on bookends. Loved it! I have some old cast iron irons I painted black and use as bookends. Come to my blog. I posted the photos of my painted fireplace. xo Lynn
ReplyDeleteHi Janet, I have just popped over to thank you for your lovely comment on my blog. I am touched and humbled by your supportive words, so thank you and take care, Jen B. xx
ReplyDeleteGreat bookends, Janet. I'm always intrigued with what people like and/or collect. You've got some cool ones...I must say I like the acorns best also.
ReplyDeleteThose top ones are my fav--darling!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the book called household discoveries about?? ;-) ps. I love mysteries too---but haven't read any lately--I prefer the old Agatha Christy ones--something so homey and familiar about those. I do like Mary Higgens too--since hers often take place in New England or NJ
ReplyDeleteGreat bookends! I just love the first ones.
