THIS BUD'S FOR YOU

When I discussed my landscaping plans back in May I mentioned transplanting some cuttings of Hydrangea Petiolore ( climbing Hydrangea). Joanne at Cottage in the Making mentioned she had never seen such a thing, so without further ado, Joanne, this bud is for you, lol. Am I not the wittiest blogger on the planet? No, you say, oh well I do have my moments.

Later,
Janet

PS: This plant is about 12 years old. I snitched it, with permission of course, from a house I was selling. It blossomed last year for the first time and it had 2, count 'em, TWO blossoms. This year it has 16. I am nothing if not precise!

  1. That is one pretty hydrangea and a climbing one at that. I just planted about five a couple weeks ago. Mine are the regular kind. They dont climb,sad.... they just sit there. I hope they bloom next year so I can enjoy them even more. Thank you for stopping by my etsy shop and passing along my name. Take care and have a great weekend1 Susie h

  3. Janet, you just might be the most witty blogger on the planet. You definitely gave me a big grin as I was sitting here enjoying your blooms.

Sometimes I think I am very funny, but then my son (who thinks he is the funniest ever) sticks a pin in my balloon. I believe he secretly knows that I am funny.

  8. I love it on the tree. I started several new plants from snippets that came from me trying to force the one on my porch to grow in the direction I wanted it to go!! This year I planted them at the base of a couple trees. I will be waiting as patiently as I can for them to wind around my trees that way.

The climbing hydrangea I planted at the base of my porch 4 years ago has now grown to the roof, 17 feet, and has obtained a width of 9 feet.

I love this plant and will be starting more shoots this year.

    ((hugs)) Rosie

  9. You are so darned lucky - mine never grew let alone bloomed - and I spent a fortune on two nice sized ones at a posh garden center (where you can't get your money back, boo, hoo!)

  10. That is so funny! I'd never heard of a climbing hydrangea either! Wonder how many you'll get next year? It's definitely on the upswing!...Donna

  11. I never see those climbing hydrangeas in California. Maybe they don't grow here.
