This is my family's favorite fall and winter dessert; we even have it for Thanksgiving and our famous (to us) Christmas Eve Dinner.
4 cups sliced apples (don't use Granny Smith, they won't soften)
2 to 4 T. sugar ( depending on sweetness of apples)
1 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. freshly grated nutmeg
1 cup oatmeal
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
6 T. melted butter
pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 8" square pan.
Toss apples with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Put
in dish.
Combine rest of ingredients and sprinkle on top. Bake for 30-35 minutes until it is bubbly and
golden. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if you prefer.
This is also the perfect breakfast food...whole grains, fruit and dairy !!!!
PS. How do those food stylists do it? I have a new respect for them.
I love apple crisp! I do make mine with Granny Smith usually cause we like it a bit crispier. Actually any kind of fruit crisp is good. They're all delish and healthier than other kinds of desserts.

Sounds delish! I love a good apple crisp. As for those food stylists...they don't hesitate to get right in close and they don't care if they lop off huge chunks of their topic. Ha!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit today...come again soon!
Oh, did you get the storm last night, too?
Oh yum, I will just help myself if you don't mind! I didn't eat enough at the party I guess! Or maybe I am overindulging.

Oh! That looks scrumptious! I just went to our local apple orchard for the last time this season and bought a bag of Pink Lady apples...they would be perfect for that! I am going to make it in the next couple of days...thanks!
